Tip/IdeaBed TimeAfter a while, I am so tired of this kind of struggle. So, we start to do a 2-week pre-back-to-school prep. Here is what we do: Starting from 2 weeks before the first day of school, we will have our son go to bed 15 minutes earlier than his summer bed time. In the morning, we also wake him up 15 minutes earlier than his late summer wake-up time. So, 15 minutes earlier at night plus 15 minutes earlier in the morning, each day is a 30-minute adjustment. For instance, summer vacation bed time is 12am. We make it 15 minutes earlier each night. It starts from 11:45, 11:30, 11:15 and so forth. Also, summer wake up time in the morning is 10am. We make it 15 minutes earlier each morning. It starts from 9:45, 9:30 and 9:15, etc. Eventually, it will get close to the desired school schedule. If bed time and wake up time are extreme as 2am and 11am respectively, you may need to consider of re-adjusting the time more than 2 weeks before school starts.
Meal PrepIn short, double, triple or quadruple your dinner amount. Save the leftover for lunch. Or invest your downtime during the weekend to do the meal prep.
Fun CultureLeftovers in Chinese CultureChinese don’t mind leftovers at all. To them, it means good luck because it represents having more than enough.

Recommended ProductA Great Book for Kids/TeenagersI stumbled on this book a few years back, especially during the time when I was battling with some disease and caused a cancer scare. When my son's school baseball team lost game after game just by one run back in the spring of 2024, the whole team's morale was so down and depressed. A famous Bible story in this book tells you that there is light at the end of the tunnel. As your child(ren) getting older and older, he/she will face some challenges. This less-than-100-page book teaches a lot of great life lessons. It's perfect for back to school prep. Let's wrap up this month with this Bible verse. “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” – Isaiah 30:21
