Flying Tips for All November 03, 2025 |
Flying Tips
My teenage son and I just came back from Hong Kong (see picture below), my hometown, this past summer. It was the first time after over 10 years not seeing my family. Being a foodie, of course, going back home reminded me how much I enjoy all the foods and varieties over there. As always, there are always some new adventures and experiences that we enjoyed and learned. Even though everything I am going to share with you this month may not be all food related, I hope it gives you plenty of great flying tips for future adventures. Most American in up north prefer to take a trip to down south during spring. You most likely start to plan on this trip soon. So, it's a perfect time to gather all this info to get yourself ready for a smooth, stress-free travel. Happy Thanksgiving!

However, when it comes to dealing with airlines or any travel agencies, they heavily rely on technology. It is good and bad. What made me to say that? If you are not technology savvy, it could be very difficult, especially when you are stuck in the airport and the staff just ask you to go on to their app to take care of business because they can't help you. What if there is no internet? Been there, done that, too. (While I was writing this newsletter, there was a major server outage at Amazon's AWS. It disrupted many, many websites. What if a website that you heavily rely on for the trip happened to be in that same situation?) So, my strategy is always printing out the most important things, such as boarding passes and air plane tickets. For travel involving big airport with connecting flights, I highly recommend you to print out the airport map. My last travel to Hong Kong a few months back fell into this situation. I knew that we had a connecting flight in a big airport. So, I looked up online with the info from AI, airline and the airport websites. All provided me 3 scenarios so that I could calculate the time in between. Little did I expect that when I arrived the connecting airport, I was presented with the 4th scenario. And the internet in the airplane was horrible. I was thankful that I printed out the map that we could ask the questions of the steward with that print-out before landing.
