Why Does Everyone Call It Tea?

Hi!,

Are you a coffee or tea drinker? I am a coffee drinker. But a cup of tea after a full meal, regardless of the outside temperature, it helps a lot in digestion and boosts of energy.

Other than a drink, we can also cook with tea which is very common in the Asian culture.

Anyway, that was the inspiration of this month of newsletter. Stay tuned.

Storage Tips

Tea leaves for sure are better than any tea bags. No matter what the shape and form of your tea, you always store it in the cool and dry area. Stay away from direct sunshine. This will keep their shelf life longer.

(Side Note: The picture above was taken from Hong Kong Museum of History. It showcases the old tea store. You may see stores look like this one in the very remote area in China. And they only sell tea leaves.)

How Do People Call "Tea" In the World?

I remember my Uncle Joe once commented, “Everybody in the world calls it ‘cha’ like the Chinese. Why does it call ‘tea’ in English?

So, I did some research. He was right in some ways. Asian and Middle East does call it “cha, chai, cay”, while Europe calls it “tea, the, tee”.

What so interesting is that these two "names" are basically people call “tea” in the world.
