May, the Month of Feasts

Hi!,

There are so many things to celebrate in the month of May. First is Mother’s Day and then Memorial Day in America.

Oh, wait! If you are into Chinese culture, there is another celebration this month as well. It gives you another opportunity to try out more Chinese food. How awesome is that!

Since we covered quite a bit of Mother's Day in the past couple years, we will have more focus on Memorial Day this time.

Before you go, wish all the mothers, Happy Mother's Day and everyone Happy Memorial Day!

Tip/Idea

Handling Bottled Water

As weather is getting warmer and warmer every day, make sure to keep yourself being hydrated. You may have stocked up bottled water. Although we love icy cold water, it is dangerous to your health if you drink super cold water when you are sweating and hot. While we don't want to drink room temperature water, there is a work-around. My recommendation is to store your bottled water in the basement or any dark cool area in your house. This way, the water is cool enough, but not super cold. When you are out and about, store the bottles in a cooler and stay away from direct sunshine.

Fun Culture

What's on the Chinese Calendar in May?

As mentioned earlier, May is a very busy month. If you blend in one the most celebrated Chinese festivals, you must check out Dragon Boat Festival. It will be on May 31 this year. Chinese love to serve rice dumplings during this time. The picture above was from last year. There was a crash course to learn how to wrap Chinese rice dumpling in the Chinese Community Center. And I did it.

Check out some of the Chinese communities in your area and see if they have any celebrations and fun activities.
