Get Rid of That Stain

Hi!,

Warm weather is here or will be here soon. Outdoor activities are ramping up as well. As a parent, outdoor activities mean dirty clothes due to sports, picnic and eating with your hands.

Whether it is grown-ups or young children, we all make a mess. The worst of all, getting a stain on your favorite clothes is the last thing you want to see. We are going to dive into this topic and tackle this challenge this month.

Happy Spring!

Tip/Idea

Rule of Thumb to Get Rid of Stain

There are several mistakes many people make which seals the stains on your clothes permanently. How to avoid them? Here are a few super low-maintenance and easy tips to follow:

1) Always wash with cold water. NEVER lukewarm or hot water.

Heat seals the stain on your clothes. So, use cold tap water in both removing the stains and washing machine.

2) Treat it as soon as you can.

Most of the time, you can’t go into the restroom immediately to clean up. Even if you do, you will have a big wet spot. At least, use a paper towel to gently press on it to absorb any extra moisture. Do NOT rub it. This will rub the stain and dirt into the fabric. There will be no return. As soon as you get back home, rinse it and soap it.

3) Stay away from breach.

Plenty of people under the impression that breach can help a lot, especially on white clothes. I used to think so, too. But then I learned later on that breach means oxidation. Once it is oxidized, it is done and no turning back.

4) Clean it with shampoo or dish soap.

For stain about the size of a golf ball, it needs to be fully soak with cold water and use shampoo or dish soap to clean and rub. When you rinse it, just rinse it enough to see if the stain is off. Otherwise, it needs to repeat this step again. Then, transfer to the washing machine to do a regular cycle clean in cold tap water.

5) Tumble dry instead of throwing your clothes into the dryer.

Once the washing cycle is completed, it is difficult to see if the stain is totally gone. So, hang it up with a hanger and let it air dry. Do NOT throw it into the dryer after the first wash. If the stain is still there, try step 4 one more time. This time you can throw it into the dryer because if you went through this same step the second time and it stays, that means it stays forever.

Fun Culture

How Do Chinese Define Dirt?

In Asian cultures, being dirty covers a lot of things. One typical custom is to take off your shoes before you get inside the house. No shoes are supposed to be walking around the house because they bring dirt inside and make the house dirty.
