Tip/Idea

What to Pick from the Farm Stand?

Some local farms do have great quality corn with very reasonable price. We once had the experience to pick our own corn and the owner even asked us to take a bite of the freshly picked one. It was A.W.E.S.O.M.E. The sweetness was so out of this world.

Most of the time, if the farm has been in business for many years and you had tried out their corn, their quality pretty much the same year after year.

If it’s a new business to them like we went to the orchard once, the first year was great. The second year was ok. So, farms like that it may take some time for experiment. So, I encouraged you to try out different farm stands.

Culture Shock About Corn

These 2 characters means corn. Chinese adds additional character(s) after these 2 words as description for referring to any items related to corn.

In fact, one of my newsletters back in 2022 shared another phrase of corn in Chinese. They have the same meaning. But one of the characters is different.

When I was in 10th grade, our geography teacher told us not to eat corn because corn in America is used for animal feed.

You may laugh right now. We believed it back then. Not until I got married and moved to the States many years later, I realized that it was a wrong statement. Certain corn is grown for animal feed. But there are some kinds of corn for us, human beings, to enjoy.

The reason my teacher made that statement has some ties to the way Chinese serve corn on the cobs. Find out from the exclusives.

There are tons of products to make an easy way to cut out the corn kernels. I have never tried one that made me say, “This is the one.”

But I found this butter spreader is the easiest way to put butter on the corn without too much mess.
