Leftovers from Barbecue/Cookout

Hi! Friends,

As summer is approaching, the next big holiday to celebrate is Memorial Day. What’s your plan?

We are going to celebrate it like many traditional American families. Burger, hot dogs, munchies and some desserts. But no matter how big or small your gathering will be, there is always leftover.

Living with my mom’s mantra everyday, throwing food away is the last thing I do. So, instead of eating the same things in the next few days, I always take this as an opportunity to create new dishes. Instead of considering them as headache, I always enjoy every moment of allowing my creative juice running wild. I ended up developing tons of recipes using leftover.

And I am going to share with you an exclusive one which took me 3 months of trial and error to perfect it. My son got so addicted to this. It is so great that we even blend in this recipe with one of my copycat recipes to kick up another notch.

I hope you will love it so much that you will always look forward to have more leftovers just because of this reason.

Tip/Idea

Always Have A Plan B

Not every household has their grill under cover. If it rains, it may mean to cancel your original plan or just let your food get rained on.

A challenge of cooking burger indoor is that your cooking utensil may not be as big as a regular grill. So, that means you will need to separate them into multiple batches, especially if the crowd is 8 or more people. Is using the oven to keep the food warm an option? Will it heat up the house? Different people have different answer based on their house size and the number of guests.

There is no straight answer. But if you give it a thought before the event, you will not be scrambling, but more relaxed and know what to do.

Does Chinese Have Cookout?

Have you ever wondered how Hong Kong, my hometown, BBQ looks like?

Unlike the American BBQ, everything needs to be cooked and done by yourself individually. Yes, it is really a test of patience. The impatient me prefer to cook hot dogs because that is the easiest and quickest way to start eating. Hong Kong people love to grill wings. Again, the impatient me would not bother to do so.

Product I Recommend

Many years ago, I almost swallowed a piece of grill brush bristle inadvertently which could cause me to go to an emergency surgery.

Since then, we stopped using that kind of grill brush. For your safety, I highly recommend to use a different kind and stay away from the kind with bristles.
