People always say overripe bananas best used for making banana bread. I think it is best used in this smoothie.
I have been thinking of making this recipe for a while. Little did I expect that I am addicted since the first taste. Is it the chocolate? Is it the coffee? I don’t know. All I know is that I felt awesome after having this smoothie. My energy sustains longer. I don't feel hungry for a long, long time.
I tried using an overripe banana and a ripe banana separately at different times. Overripe banana brings in more sweetness in the smoothie. In my opinion, it definitely tastes better. But if you are not that picky, a ripe banana is perfectly fine.
You may have more than 1 overripe banana on hand and can't use them all right away. What could you do? Discard the banana peels, store one banana in one zip lock bag and freeze it.
As much as it is so irresistible, this smoothie is best served after chilling it overnight. I bring to work for several occasions for my mid-morning snack. Storing the smoothie in a thermos to keep its cold temperature would be the best.
